Privacy Policy
KidNeara ("KidNeara", "we", "us") helps parents organize real-world, parent-supervised meetups for their children based on nearby location and shared interests. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Who may use KidNeara
KidNeara accounts are for adults (18+) only — parents and legal guardians. Children do not have accounts, cannot sign in, and are never contacted by KidNeara. Every real-world meetup arranged through KidNeara is organized and supervised by parents.
2. Information we collect
| Category | Details | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Account & contact info | Your name, email address, and/or phone number (depending on how you sign in), and your Sign in with Apple identifier. | Creating and securing your account, sign-in verification, account recovery, and contacting you about your account. |
| Parent profile | Display name, optional bio, optional profile photo. | Shown to other parents so they know who is hosting or joining a meetup. |
| Child information (entered by you) | Nickname, age range (e.g. "5–7"), interests, optional photo. We never ask for a child's legal name, birthday, school, or contact details. | Matching families with compatible ages and interests. A child's photo is visible only to you. |
| Location | Approximate (coarse) location. Meetup pins shown publicly are deliberately fuzzed by roughly 0.4–0.9 miles. The precise meetup location is shared only with parents the host has approved. | Showing nearby meetups and protecting your home address. |
| User content | Activity listings you create, join-request notes, chat messages, and photos you send in chat. Chat unlocks only after a host approves a join request. | Operating the meetup and messaging features. |
| Purchase records | KidNeara Plus subscription status and purchase history (processed by Apple and our subscription provider, RevenueCat). We never see your payment card details. | Unlocking paid features and managing your subscription. |
| Safety records | Reports and blocks you file, and reports filed about your account. | Investigating abuse and keeping the community safe. |
3. Children's privacy (COPPA)
- KidNeara is designed for parents. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 (or any children) — children never use the app.
- All child-related information is provided by a parent or legal guardian about their own child, and is intentionally minimal: a nickname, an age range, and interests.
- Child profiles are private to the parent who created them. When you request to join a meetup, only the nickname, age range, and interests of the kids you select are shared with that meetup's host so they can review your request.
- Parents can review, edit, or delete their children's profiles at any time in the app, and can delete all data by deleting their account.
- If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us at privacy@kidneara.app and we will delete it.
4. How we use information
- Provide the service: show nearby meetups, process join requests, unlock chat and precise meetup pins after host approval.
- Keep the community safe: enforce our Terms, process reports and blocks, and prevent abuse.
- Manage subscriptions and free-tier limits.
- Communicate with you about your account (e.g. verification codes, join approvals).
We do not sell personal information, serve third-party advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
5. What other users can see
- Anyone browsing (including guests): public activity listings — title, interests, age range, date, an approximate (fuzzed) map area, and the host's display name.
- Signed-in parents: your parent profile card (display name, bio, photo, verification badge).
- A host you ask to join: your join note and the nickname, age range, and interests of the kids you selected.
- Approved meetup members: the precise meetup pin and your chat messages within that conversation.
- Never visible to others: your email address, phone number, Apple identifier, your exact location, and your children's photos.
6. Service providers
We share data only with the processors needed to run KidNeara:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, database, file storage, and push notifications. Firebase privacy
- RevenueCat — subscription management. RevenueCat privacy
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, In-App Purchase, and push notification delivery.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users, especially children.
7. Data retention and deletion
- You can permanently delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete my account and data. This immediately and permanently deletes your parent profile, child profiles, hosted activities, join requests, conversations, messages, uploaded photos, block lists, and your sign-in account (email, phone number, and Apple identifier).
- Safety reports may be retained after account deletion, with identifying details minimized, where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or comply with law.
- Subscription billing records are retained by Apple according to Apple's policies; manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store settings.
- You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@kidneara.app.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to backend data is restricted by per-user security rules: child profiles are readable only by their own parent, precise meetup locations only by approved participants, and chats only by their members. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we design for least access.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Most of these are available directly in the app; for anything else, contact privacy@kidneara.app. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. For material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect.
